Description
On 10 August 1867, Ruggero Pascoli — steward of the Torlonia estate and father of Giovanni Pascoli — was shot and killed while returning home in his carriage. The murder was never solved. That traumatic event marked the beginning of a chain of family tragedies and left a profound imprint on the young Giovanni, echoing throughout his poetry for the rest of his life.
Every Thursday in July and August at 9.00 p.m., this compelling visit-performance reopens the case. Led by Commissioner G.P., audiences are drawn into an unfolding investigation that moves through the evocative spaces of Villa Torlonia — from shadowed cellars to frescoed halls — where clues, suspicions and testimonies emerge.
Part guided tour, part theatrical experience, the evening weaves together documented history and poetic suggestion, allowing visitors to step inside a story that still resonates more than a century later. _ “In the Tower, the silence was already deep. The poplars along the Rio Salto whispered.”_
