A village shaped by poetry

Just a few minutes from San Mauro Mare lies San Mauro Pascoli, the birthplace of the Italian poet Giovanni Pascoli. Set in the quiet plains between the Uso and Rubicone rivers, the village is full of charming streets and corners where poetry seems to linger in the air.

Here you’ll find Casa Pascoli, the home that preserves the poet’s childhood memories, family affections and the imaginative world that inspired much of his work. As you wander through the village, you can trace the very landscapes evoked in his poem La cavallina storna (“The Dappled Mare”). The Pascoli Poetry Park links the two places that guard his legacy: Villa Torlonia and the poet’s birthplace.

A village close to the sea, yet deeply rooted in its poetic heritage.
