PALAZZO DEL TURISMO ARCOBALENO

The Palazzo del Turismo Arcobaleno, inaugurated in 2024, was built where the historic “Arcobaleno” Cinema of San Mauro Mare once stood. It has given way to a modern and attractive structure, part of the “Waterfront” project of Regional Law 20/2018, aimed at the redevelopment of the seafront.

The building's peculiarity is its upward silhouette, almost reminiscent of a ship's keel, overlooking the Adriatic. The metal façades, moreover, sculptural and gilded, look like stereometric plastic excavations reminiscent of cinema boxes, cameras, a suggestion that recalls the imagery of the Arena Arcobaleno as a historic cinema en plein air.

The structure, realised by the group of architects Laprimastanza di Montiano, has allowed the tourist offer of the locality to be enhanced, taking care to maintain continuity with the historical destination of the area on which the building stands. In fact, the Arena Arcobaleno, adjacent to the palace, is equipped with a large screen on which films for adults and children are projected during the mild summer nights. Not only that, the palace also houses a 146-seat hall, a meeting place for events, cultural activities and initiatives, available to the community all year round. The new conference centre is therefore a multifunctional building: not only does it house the new tourist office, but it is also a large hall for events, conferences, concerts, and cinema.
